I was able to get a guest's perspective on what this time period means. The perspective is short but to the point
The “Gilded Age” was the period after the Civil War through the late 19th century. Mark Twain coined the name the “Gilded Age” which referred to a society that had numerous issues that were masked by a roaring economy and expansive riches. This was an era of rapid economic growth, where some men became very rich, while others lived in horrible poverty. This was a period when the United States transitioned from an agrarian society into an urban society with an economy dominated by a few very powerful businessmen. Some of these men you may have heard of: John D. Rockefeller (made his money in oil); Andrew Carnegie (made his money in steel); and J. Pierpont Morgan (a banker). The disparity between rich and poor was substantial. Toward the end of this era, the corporation became the dominant form of business organization. The major sectors of the nation’s economy were dominated by a small number of giant corporations. Some of these sectors included banking, manufacturing, oil refining, steel, and railroads. This era also saw a rise in immigrants to the United States, the establishment of labor unions, and an upsurge in social activism.

I reached out to 2 college professors, and I did not hear back. Just like last time, I will post the questions and my answers.
Question one: How did the time period 1865-1898 affect culture and society? Answer: During the time period, the main event that affected culture and society was immigrants. With the rise of immigrants, there were now people with different cultures, religions, and languages. Question two: How did other aspects of life like economy and politics affect society? Answer: Each played a big part during the Gilded Age. Economy was different because it depended on where a person lived, or what their job was. Monopolies were formed, which was great for rich people, but affected poor people greatly. Politics on the other hand was very laissez faire. Political machines were very big in cities, and towards immigrants. The big issue that politics helped was the monopolies and the anti-trust act. Question three: Where can I find additional resources on this topic? Answer: I couldn't find any, but I would look at anything that relates to the topic.
During the Gilded Age, politics were becoming corrupt, immigration reached an all-time-high, and westward expansion was starting to become popular again. Even though all of these were a big part of the time period, the biggest part of the Gilded Age was the politics and the different lifestyles of the East coast and the West coast.
A lot of people have seen the Wizard of Oz.
People are saying that we are repeating the Gilded Age with some events that reflect each other, and some events that don't. I believe that we are slowly advancing towards the second Gilded Age, but I don't feel that we are.
So...I know I've been behind on the website. There's only 2 pages up, and I have two pages that are either almost finished, or they have nothing at all.
